Meade Lightbridge 16" dob.

Hello !
I'm planning to buy a Meade lightbridge 16" telescope very soon.
I've been looking online for reviews about this telescope and unfortunately I have not found a serious one. If any of you have had the opportunity of looking thru one of this or if you own one. please tell me your experience with it. The telescope costs $2000.00, it is not little money, so I would like to be sure before buying it.

I can not vouch for the specific optics of this version of the 16" meade, although I just completed a homebuilt obsession style scope that uses Meade optics. Going from an 8" to a 16" showed a huge difference at the eyepiece. I can only go off of pictures, but it looks like a reasonable telescope. I can see where they may have cut corners to save $$$ (crushed truss tubes and what not), but I am sure you would not be disappointed, and $2000 is pretty reasonable for large optics. You could always build your own scope around them later!!

Don't know if you are aware of it, but there is a Yahoo Group for Lightbridge telescopes which would probably have alot of good info on this scope. I joined the group a while back when I was thinking of buying a 12" Lightbridge, but I haven't yet bought one.
