My Astronomy Outreach Project

Hello Astromarters,

I hope this is not a bother to you all in this group, but there is not group on Astromart Forums about outreach. I need some help from the astronomy community.

I just started a new project to expand my astronomy outreach. Please feel free to check it out at:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2055622822/open-up-the-night-sky

The way this works is that I have to line up backers for this project. If I do not get the full funding from my backers in the required 30 days, the project will fail and no one will be charged for their backing. If this project should be funded, then the backers will be charged for their support level and I will distribute all rewards. I will then put the money into the project as stated in the project description.

I sure could use some help from those who want to promote astronomy, no matter where it happens. If you feel like you can support my effort to expand my astronomy outreach, please consider backing this project.

Any support would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time and patience.

Hi Michael,

Actually there IS a forum that would be appropriate for your use:

"My group wants a donation or deal for our cause"

You might try posting there, instead. Best wishes for your project!

Steve

Michael, (and other folks looking to reach out to others to spread the joys of astronomy)

May I suggest you look into a Holmes grant from the nice folks of RTMC (I am a volunteer in this group).

These grants, named in honor of Cliff Holmes (one of the RTMC founders), are distributed to folks who propose to do things that connect people with astronomy and demonstrate that they will use the funds productively.

They may not be able to hit your timeline, but it is worth a try.

there are hundreds of astronomy clubs out there, that is the mission to promote astronomy. Equipment can be as cheap as a pair of binoculars, i have given presentations to groups with nothing more than powerponts on a cloudy night, so if it your true passion, nothing will hold you back, and a 4.5 inch reflector can reveal the glory of the skies.
