My Fedex Experience

I am in the process of attemting to get Fedex to deliver my recently recoated 16" mirror. Delivery was slated for yesterday, March 21. Needless to say, they didn't show-up. A signature is required so I made sure someone was home to sign for it at all times. After talking to six Fedex reps on the phone, one stated the truck arrived at my home at approximately 9:00pm but no one was home. I politely told the Fedex rep that this information was bogus since I was at home with my family and no Fedex truck was at my residence. I did see the Fedex truck deliver a parcel to my neighbor at 3:00pm and I nodded to the driver and he nodded back so I thought he would be at my home next but he simply got back into his truck and drove away.
I have now asked that Fedex to deliver at my residence after 5:00pm in their designated PM delivery schedule so I can be at home today for a delivery.
What do you have to do to get your box from these guys?
We will see...

I always had good service from FedEx, shipping and receiving.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, Rod.

I think it is important to distinguish Fedex Ground from Fedex Air. Fedex Ground used to be something like Roadway Express (?). I have heard some real horror stories about Fedex Ground. I sold a scope to a guy who told me that there is no way he wanted the scope shipped to him by Fedex Ground. "ANY WAY BUT FEDEX GROUND!" he said to me. He then told me he had sold a scope to someone and shipped it Fedex Ground, and the scope had been totally destroyed. He filed a claim because he had insured the scope for the full value, but after much hassling back and forth he ended up getting about half the value of the insurance. He was righteously outraged, and rightfully so.

I have not heard of too many problems with Fedex Air, though.

For the official record, Fedex stinks. Around here, if you live in an apartment complex, the driver will drop off your package at the rental office, chit-chat with the rental office chicks, and totally neglect to leave a note on your door. Now, it's bad enough if I'm just getting astronomy stuff, but if my wife goes to the trouble to have best Burritos in the world (www.burritobrothers.com) shipped overnight directly from the center of the universe (Gainesville, Florida) and they rot in the rental office over a holiday weekend, it really makes me mad! :S

I absolutely refuse to have FedEX deliver anything to me. I am in a rural area, & my mailbox is 2 miles from my house; well, FedEX dumped a $120 order in a large box at my mailbox, which is 20' from a busy County Road. When I called to complain, they could care less. UPS delivers right to my door!
