This is a duplicate but there is little activity on the Celestron Forum...

Hi,

I have a used C9.25 and when I bought it the baffle ring was loose. Besides wanting to shame the previous owner for non-disclosure ,I found that when I turn the baffle ring the baffle turns with it inside the ota [diagonal keeps rotating with it].

I don't see any locking screw. How is the baffle tube/ ring seated from the manufacturer?

Can I just glue it and if so what kind of glue? Or do I have to tear it all down/ send it in to get fixed? [Although it wouldn't be worth the S/H and repair costs.]

Could use duct tape, but...

Thanks.

Hey Marc...
This is slightly off subject but still refers to a 9.25. How much glass is exposed on the front of your scope? I am trying to determine whether the one I recently looked at is an 8" or a 9.25". The OTA I checked out had an 8 inch diameter of glass showing, but the overall scope was in the 9.25 width.

I was looking at a 10" f3.9 astrograph this morning and the salesperson indicated the 10 inches was the overall diameter of the scope on the open end.

I am just confused and don't want to turn down the opportunity to buy a 9.25 at a reasonable price.

Is the problem at the front of the scope -- where the corrector plate / lens is located, along with the secondary mirror and secondary baffle? Or at the rear of the scope where the primary mirror is carried by the baffle tube? The former case you have some hope of fixing yourself. The latter case will need Celestron as the alignment is very precise.
