I finally broke down and bought me a RA finder scope.I love it,I got the 9x50 Stellarvue with interchangable 1,25" eyepieces. It is great to not to have to crawl around on the ground looking for my guide stars for alignment etc.I was bidding on an orion with the .965 ep but it got a little high for my taste being used. After $75.00 I stopped and logged on Anacortes and paid $99.00 for a new one with warranty and my size ep's.The Orion looked great and I'm sure it was worth the price it went for but got just too high for me since it was so close to the price of a new one. After using the stellarvue I am sold,I would'nt mind having one of their telescopes.Very nice optics especially for a finder,I guess I'm just use to the ones that seem to come out of cracker-jack boxes or the like. For anyone needing an excellent RA finder scope try the F50W Stellarvue 9X50 Wide angle with the interchangable eyepieces, you'll love it.Clear skies,Darrell

I'm going to do the same thing. I own a Stellarvue 80mm refractor already and am very impressed with it. I know their finders will have the same quality. I recently purchased a Celestron C-8 and the finder that they provide is garbage at best.

Darrell, Just for a test of the optical quality, take a look at Albireo whenever it becomes visible. You should just be able to detect the two colors at 9X.

Hi Darrel,
I got the F50W and I like it a lot. The only thing I don't like about it is that it does not hold it's aim when you rotate the diagonal. The cross hairs move as you turn it and 90° turn moves it quite a ways away from the original star. Not sure if this is typical or not, would you try this and get back to me about it?

I don't recommend rushing out and buying a $290 eyepiece for a $99 finderscope, but if you happen to already have a 13mm Nagler that eyepiece gives you a fantastic 15x with a 5º tfov. Some people use these for daytime spotting work. You can use a 2.5x Powermate to get powers over 50x. (A barlow won't focus.)

Hi,

I was looking at this online the other day and Anacortes had one in stock, and I was thinking about buying it and then poof, it was no longer in stock - I guess I know why now!

I have a WO new style finder bracket and after measuring everything, unfortunately, the SV 50W won't fit in it, it's just too large - oh well. I have 55mm of inside diameter, so I am not sure if I will upgrade from my straight through 6x30 WO finder or not, but I am still looking at options.

Take care,

Timm
