Orion 80mm ED Focuser Question

Hello Group,

I have just received my Orion 80mm ED scope and wanted to hear from other users regarding the focuser. I am using a 2” William diagonal with a std. Meade 25mm plossl eyepiece. I observed that as soon as I angle the scope up there doesn’t seem to be enough friction on the focus tube to bring the eyepiece combination back in. Any insight as to how to adjust the focuser to add a little friction to the focus tube?

Any other 80mm ED users using bigger/heavier eyepieces in their scopes. What’s your favorite combination?

Thanks in advance, Don

Don,
There's a tension screw on the bottom of the focuser. Tighten it.

Don,

I had the same problem with mine. I put a 2" Televue diagonal in with a BW Optik 30mm. When I would get the scope pointed almost staight up(or even close)I would have to crank down the tension screw really hard or the focuser would just keep on coming out.
