Orion dew removal system question

I bought this used off of astromart and it works great and I believe the seller said it was an Orion. Anyway, my question is - there is a strap with velcro that heats but there is also a wire with a connector on it coming from the strap and I can't figure out what the wire is for.

Thanks,
Michelle

Are you talking about a Dew Heater?
How are you making it work now?

If it is what I'm thinking, then that wire is to be connected to a power source so that it can heat up your scope (around the corrector plate) so that it can keep the lenses warmer than the surrounding ambient temperature (therefore, keeping the DEW away...)

Or if you're already using it properly (I mean, already connected to power source), then maybe it is for daisy-chaining a secondary dew heater for, let's say, eyepieces?

I hope this is what you're asking about...
