Orion Lanthanum eyepieces

Has anyone experienced the Orion Lanthanum eyepiece line? I am particularly interested in the 2.3mm or the 3.8mm.
I could use the eye relief that they offer (eyeglass wearer), but I wonder if they suffer from the 6-8 elements that they use. I want resolution at higher powers to split doubles and for planets. Any alternate suggestions are appreciated. Oh, I couldn't find these reviewed by either Ting or Gross.

Thanks,
Alan

I had a 2.3 and didn't care for it because I thought the views were dark and orange.

Hi Alan -

I use the 4.5 Lanthanum. Mine is Celestron branded, but all the 'different' Lanthanums are really the same eyepieces, and they are really made by Vixen. If you search the reviews again, you may find them under "Vixen Lanthanums".

At any rate, the 4.5 is often too high of power for the unsteady atmosphere where I live, but when the seeing is good, I have been amazed at the clarity of this EP at high magnification. I have used it primarily for planetary observing with great success - the views are sharp across the field. The only drawback to these is that they don't have a very wide fov.
