I am thinking of purchasing a used quality refractor(OTA)in the $800-1000 price. Ideally, I would like something highly portable with the ability to mount it on my older 1980's C11. The C11 has a fork mount, heavy duty wedge and tripod. I want something that I can used for planetary and lunar observation. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

A Borg 76ED would seem to fit the bill. It is very lightweight and transportable weighing in at under 4 lbs. The standard 76ED is F6.6 but there is also a 76EDFL version which is F10. That might be a better choice since you stated that you are interested in planetary and lunar observation. Both of these can be purchased new within your given price range.
