Premium Mirrors

For several years now I've had an 8" f/6 dob that gives really good views of the planets, considering the mass produced optics it sports. Astronomy fever has struck again, though, and I'm thinking about upgrading the mirror.
Which leads me to a three part question:
1. I know of some of the premium glass pushers out there-Zambuto, Kennedy, Stevens, Harry, Spooner, Royce, and Swayze., but am I missing any? Are there other top notch opticians I don't kmow about?
2. Have any of you tried these mirror makers products, and are you willing to comment on their performance?
3. Is there anyone who has tried these premium mirrors, and been able to do a direct comparison to a Zambuto? In other words, how do "the best" compare to "the best of the best"?
Thanks for any insights you may be willing to share!

A couple of years ago I was in the same situation. I had an Orion 8" f6 mirror that I wanted to have re-figured and upgrade all of the mechanicals around it. I had Mark Harry do mine. It saved me some money vs a new mirror (I think he charged me $350 including shipping and re-coating). The specs reported to me by Mark were very good after he was done (1/16th wavefront error, Strehl ratio .9798, with the significant error being near the center where it is obscured by the secondary). My Orion mirror is plate glass instead of Pyrex, but Mark told me that performance wouldn't be noticably differrent in an 8" mirror.
The performance of the mirror is definitely better than before, and I've been satisfied. I haven't compared to similar mirrors from the other premium mirror makers though, so I can't comment on how it stacks up against samples of their work.

Terry Ostahowski recently stepped out on his own to offer premium mirrors. As you may know, he was the optician at Discovery and during his time Discovery earned a reputation for consistently high quality mirrors.

In his new business, he provides laser interferograms with every mirror - if you want to be sure of quality, that is one way to insure that you get what you pay for.

I recently acquired a special 13.1" f4.5 mirror that Terry figured specifically for a repeat customer while at Discovery, he even signed this one. Interferogram testing showed it was figured to .97 Strehl, RMS .027, and PtoV of 0.16. It is a really super mirror and is providing outstanding views.

As others have said - hard to go wrong with any of the names offered in these responses.

I have read through this thread and can add two more opticians that have fine mirrors if you can find find them.

One is Ed Beck of Enterprise Optics fame - he made mirrors for Cave and still makes first class Classical Cassegrain and Newtonian Optics and they are perfect.

The other is harder to find and that is Tom Scott - smaller newtonian and cassegrain optics and a OEM manufacturer smile
