Thoughts? ( I can get a NExstar 5 for $500) a 120 loaded with autofocus for around 950, another 120 wihotut autofocuser or goto for around 650 or a 90 for $500.

I want GOTO so I can buy a used controller I would think.

Thanks!

Hi Michael,

I believe you are talking about the ETX 125, but am not sure what you mean by "autofocuser".

I may be able to offer advice but give me an idea of your plans for the scope.

Thanks,

Joe

I compare the Nexstar5 with the ETX125 a few years back and found the Nexstar5 to be a better scope. It is more stable, seems better built overall, and can use standard SCT accessaries. Combined about 3 eyepieces, an 8 or 9mm, a 15 to 17mm and a 26 to 32mm it provides a nice range of power and field of view. $500 is a good value.

Just my $.02 worth. I say get a great pair of 80mm binos and a good tripod for them. Not much difference in size. Just a thought...

The choice has been made:
Celestron 102SLT and I'm working up a possible swap plan to get rid of my SCT and replace it with a DOB...

Takers on the SCT?

Thanks for all your help--you folks rock!!
