Well, we can discuss a possible fair price, but it may draw more from someone seeking this particular Christen triplet (late 80's?). The AR5 OTA sans lens is worth $50 (maybe).

If it was still original in the stock tube it would get $2800 - $3800 tops on a good day of auction frenzy. This based on it being a premo Starfire as pictured here:

Take away the Starfire tube, AP focuser, and add a little buyer's risk (do you know the objective's S/N if a buyer asks?), it is worth far less.

How much less? I would say at least 50% less, if not more. But that's just my two cents...

Yes, you just boosted my confidence 100% by calling AP. I have an AR5; it is not a bad OTA for use while waiting for an upgrade in focuser. The paint job is good and it is baffled, even in the cheap focuser.

So, yea, I would think $1200 - $1500 is a fair price as long as the triplet and cell parts are all stock and assembled correctly.
