Well, Rob, getting a 12" scope for your kids [**other** than self] may be the oldest "pitfall" in the book. It is quite large and as the ole saying goes "the best telescope is the one **you** use most often". I'd say go slow, learn how to use your Nexstar, the sky, before the next quantum leap.
