Hi All: I just got an Atlas EQ-G, with Parallax asking $480.00 for a set of 10" rings rotating rings, I was wondering if anyone has a set of plans on building rotating ringe, and if you would like to share they. I have a buddy that works in a power plant machine shop and is willing to make them up for me.

Thanks you any help

Hi Robert:

I don't have any plans for rotating rings for you.

I will repeat the suggestion that was made to me when I faced a similar situation, This was to purchase an extra mounting ring (only available as pairs of course) and put it above the top ring on mount, just clamped to the OTA. This keeps the scope from sliding down when loosening the mounting rings to rotate scope.

I have found that I can leave the rings alone, loose enough to rotate, tight enough to avoid vibration problems.

Not quite like real rotating rings but a whole lot cheaper.
