Can a 90mm 1000mm FL refractor be used on a Vixen PortaMount? Can you view the zenith? Thanks

I have a Stellarvue 80 9D, which is a big 80mm scope. I can view at the zenith with the Portamount, but I need to position the scope between the tripod legs when I'm pointing straight up.

You should be ok unless it is very heavy. I have used the Microstar, Porta, Voyager, Teegul, and Discmount. By far the worst is the Voyager. The tripod of the Porta is the weak point, so you need to use vibration suppressor pads for sure when the legs are extended. At zenith your long tube might hit the legs, so you might have to rotate the tripod base a bit...a bit of a pain at times. All these mounts are tricky to use at zenith.
