Shipment from Canada

Hello all,
I have had shipments sent to me from Europe, England, Australia and Asia without difficulties. But, I purchased a refractor off Astromart in June. It arrived in the US July 7 and that is the last that USPS has. I just got off the phone with a supervisor at the United States Postal Service and she said, the person in Canada had used a method of shipping that cannot be tracked in the USA. So, when it entered the US on July 7th that was the last it could be tracked. Now, she says, the individual in Canada must begin a search. How, I wonder, will a Canadian shipper be able to track a package in the US if the USPS cannot?

best,

Jim Phillips

Are you sure it isn't stuck in customs? I had a package from work that was held up there for quite some time with a similar "story". Luckily, I've had okay luck with sending and receiving packages from Canada although not often for the very reason you mention.

Hi Jim,
I just went through this with USPS on a check I sent Priority Mail, signature required. The check had not arrived after a week. The supervisor told me there was no way to find it, there is no tracking with this method and that only Certified or Express Mail has tracking.
Now the check arrived after two weeks, but I had already placed a stop payment on it and sent the money by wire.
To add to this, I sent a check for a scope by Express Mail Overnight once, it did not arrive and USPS could not find it or track it even though it had tracking. After 4 days it arrived and they still had no tracking or even a location or any type of information on the package.
So, I think they have no real tracking at all.
