Well, here I go again. Trying to make a choice. I have decided that my total viewing will be lunar, some planetary(Jupiter and Saturn) and M42, M43, and M57. If some other DSO goes across my view, I will probably look at it too, but I probably won't seek out the others. So, decide for me guys. Yes, I know I sound like a broken record, but please help this poor fickle astronomer!!! I am sure when you get to Heaven, you will be given an 8" Takahashi fluorite refractor to do your viewing.

Thanks,
Bob

I have an Intes MK67 and a Takahashi FC-76 (among others). The main choice you're making here is whether or not you'll give up some contrast for higher resolving power. I think a good example is observing low contrast detail on Jupiter. When switching from the refractor to the mak, you'll initially think to yourself that there is litttle additional to be seen in comparison and the primary belts will stand out less. After spending a little time, you'll slowly realize that there is some subtle detail visible in the Mak that had escaped you when using the refractor. I think you need both. shocked)
