TRIPODS & RUST

A quick question for all of you that know about paint, powder coatings & the like...

I just noticed some rust in small areas of my LX-200GPS tripod... and was wondering the best way to treat these, and to protect against rust...

I was thinking about getting the legs powder-coated for extra protection (and nicer finish), but since some areas of them are made of different material, I was concerned about the temperatures that they would be exposed to... any ideas?

If not, then I guess RUSTOLEUM will have to do... 8) wink

Thanks for your attention, and clear skies!

Ivan,
They have Epoxy paint in spray cans that is quite good. Fine sand paper the rusted spots to bare metal then spray with a good primer, and paint with the Epoxy.

Try a product called POR 15. It`s a semi-black color.
The product actually sticks better to rust than bare metal. If you want to top coat with another color you must dust it while it is still has a tack.Once dry nothing will stick to it.I painted a rusty battery box with it 6 years ago and no rust has bled thru. grin
Hope this helps
