What are the differences between the Uranometria 2000 and the Night Sky Observers Guide? I have the Night Sky Observers Guide but when is it time to warrant the purchase of Uranometria 2000?

When you want a very detailed all sky atlas. I just picked up my second copy of U2000. Between this, Trions SA2000, Becvar's, my copy of SAO, The Vehrenberg's, and throw in a few old classics like Nortons, Uptons, and Howards, among others, I got the sky covered smile

Hi:

They are two completely different things. Uranometrial is a large set of detailed star charts, maps, that is. ;-)

As the other guys said, Uranometria is an atlas. Very detailed map of the whole sky.

If you have access to some rural/darker sky (public or private) I highly recommend it, for just about any size scope. It is one very good non-electronic way to locate just about anything.
