http://www.astromart.com/users/profile.asp?user_id=30581

on one of my ads, he wants me to ship my scope to him in Singapore before he makes a T/T to my bank account. He claims its "safe". THen he wants to pay part of the cost after I ship it, then the other part of the payment later.

what kind of fool does he think I am.... he is a scammer

anyway I have reported him to astromart support, so becarefull

I just received this private message from a Kenneth Owens KENDO44:

We are interested in buying your above mentioned product (Tele Vue TV76 APO OTA ) at advertised rate of $970.00. Goods to be picked up from your location for onward shipping to London. Cost and modalities of shipping to be born by us.

Payment for the purchase is by check through a debtor in US. The debtor owes us higher than our purchase. He will therefore be sending you a check for $5,500 to cover the cost of our order, as well as the Shipping costs.

On receipt of the check, you will cash and deduct the cost of our order .The balance you will send as we would instruct you to the Agency that will ship the Goods to us. If this arrangement suites you fine, please send us your address where to send the check, as well as the name to be on it. Also send us your phone number for easy communication.

Looking forward to hearing from you through >[email protected]<.

Thank you.

Best Regards
MR. KEN OWEN

James,

I know this guy...he is a common figure in the Singapore Astronomy forums (www.singastro.com). I don't think he is out to scam you, but maybe his inexperience of dealing in Astromart plus the differences in our trading culture may make it look as if he is a scammer.

Just inform him that you need the money first before you can ship it out should clear whatever misunderstandings between you and him.

Cheers
Vincent

I have a real simple solution to this sort of International fraud.
simply do not deal outside of the Continental USA that means Canada
Mexico are also on the outside list. Let the complanies that deal with
outsourcing in the World Wide economy deal with all the fraud they can
afford it you cannot. Maybe this excludes a lot of people that are otherwise
trustworthy but I'd rather pass up and good sale or a buy than get burned
It only takes one time.
