Please refer to the attached photo. What is the correct name for the flip-lever screw that allows you to tighten a TeleVue clamshell. I'm working on a project where I need a commercially available example of this type of fastener but I can't find it because I don't know its correct name. Any guesses?

I thought it was a quick release, but it's not.

Good question, I will keep looking.

I don't know that this is a standard design. You could call Televue and just ask.

I suggest you browse the McMaster-Carr (mcmaster.com) web site, they have pictures and names for all sorts of obscure mechanical components.

A similar device on another company's clamshell ring, which is a knob without the lever, is referred to as the "adjustment knob."

If the rotating portion is threaded, I'd call it the lock down screw (wingnut type) However military nomenclature asside. I'd send the photo to TeleVue and just order it that way.

Perhaps more readily available (can be sourced locally at a Hardware store) is a threaded post with a sliding cross-rod (for tightening leverage), as commonly used for bicycle seat height adjustments without tools, etc. Performs the identical function as the TV Batwing screw (i.e. non-tool adjustment in zero-clearance situations).
