I hate asking this but I have a crucal eyepiece question and I can't make up my mind. I need to buy 3 very nice eyepieces for my xt12i. I currently have a TV 27mm Panoptic and I plan on getting the TV Big Barlow 2" and the panoptic interface (also am in the process of buying a Televue 2" Nebustar Filter) . Can any of you suggest 2 good size eps to fill in the gaps for high to mid magnification? I plan on looking at nebula, planets and star clusters.

Thanks for your advice!

You have a good range right now. I'd suggest waiting and seeing what your needs are after you get some more viewing experience.

For example, one of my favorite eyepieces in a similar scope is a 13mm T6 Nagler, but that might be not necessary if you have already decided to go with the 27 Pan & Barlow. On the other hand, after trying the Barlow, you may find that you prefer the convenience of non-Barlowed lenses.

In other words, I'd sugggest approaching your eyepiece collection as an evolution of filling needs that arise while observing, rather than trying to design a whole set of oculars in advance.

Hi Casey.
I still think you'd like the 12mm T4 Nagler, or the Meade 4000 14mm UWA.
But I thought you had decided on a 12mm Radian, in that range.
Perhaps you should take it easy, and try out your 27 Pan for a while, before you make your next decision.
Hugh made a very good point, I thought.

I've narrowed down my ep to one of the following:

TV 14mm Radian $250.00 Afov 60 degrees Focal Length: 14 Eye Relief: 20
TV 15mm Panoptic $215.00 Afov 68 degress Focal Length: 15 Eye Relief: 10

I'm leaning towards the Radian. Any suggestions?
