Hello. My husband passed away and I would like to sell all of his astronomy stuff. I am hoping for your suggestions on what price to sell those EPs for.
They are in good condition (I wouldn't say mint) and my husband always took good care of his things.

-30mm TMB
-20mm SWF (68 degree) Series 5000 Meade
-24mm SWF (68 degree) Series 5000 Meade
-16mm Type 5 TV Nag
-5mm Type 6 TV Nag
-11mm Type 6 TV Nag
-7mm TV Nag (older version)

-TV Paracorr Visual PCV-2000 (superseded by PVL-2008)

Thanks so much.

Tina, I'm so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I can't say that I knew him well, but did enjoy chatting with him when I bought a tripod from him a few years back.

What I'd recommend as the best resource for pricing the gear that you're trying to sell would be to use Astromart's search function. By searching the classified ads archives, you can get a good idea of what similar items have sold for over the past several years. This may not work as well for really unique items, but it shouldn't be too hard to come up with comparable sales of most, if not all, of the eyepieces that you have. I do this all the time when I'm trying to come up with a good price for gear that I'm trying to sell, and most of the time end up listing my items with a mid-range price (maybe a little higher if it's a really unique item in exceptional shape, and lower than average if I'm trying to move the item quickly). Hope this info helps!

Clear skies,
Scott

Scott gave you good advice, the prices you find will give you a fair market value for the items. Then you can list them for sale using those prices.

It is sad that another member has passed, hope you recover from the loss.

Tina:

My condolences on the loss of your husband, I hope you are remembering the good times you had together.

As far as the eyepieces: Not sure about the 30mm TMB,

The Series 5000 SWAs both would go for between $80-$100.

The 16mm Type 5: $220-$250

11mm and 5mm Type 6: $200-$220.

7mm Type 1: These tend to vary quite a bit but somewhere around $150, maybe a bit more.

The Paracorr: I would say no less than $200. It is the older one, the one I have. It's a wonderful piece of equipment and with the new Type 2s running $500, a used Paracorr is the only affordable game in town.

I watch the prices of the Nagler eyepieces, these are pretty accurate I think. I also watch the prices of the Meade Series 5000's as I have the 16mm and the 24mm. These are all good eyepieces.

I hope this helps.

Jon
