Observatory Destroyed...

Well my friends, this is the first time I'm on a computer since Wilma slammed my home area... (I'm at the office this morning)

We got hit not only by Wilma, but also 3 tornadoes hit our side of town, one hitting my area directly. Thank God my family is fine, and my house has suffered some roof damage (no leaks), but the structure is still fine. My patio screening enclosure (pretty large) has been completely destroyed after a huge tree was launched against it.

My brand new roll-off roof has been reduced to scrap metal, and the roof was ripped apart and landed 5 houses down the road... (not sure if I'll build another one...)

We have no electricity (seems it might be weeks before we get it back) and no communication lines as of yet.

Anyways, I already started the cleanup, took several pictures of the damage, and we will start dealing with insurance shortly...

Just wanted to stop by and give you all a heads up...

Take good care,

Ivan

P.S.
Only other good thing about this, I'm able to see the Milky Way from home...for now....

Ivan, So sorry. You were near the end of a great project. Don't let a windy woman, Wilma, mess with you. Hope to watch as you rebuild a great observatory.

Thank you guys...
Indeed, my family is fine, and that's all that matters at this time...

I'm going home now... I'll check on you all tomorrow. (no computers at home, for now)
Be safe,

Ivan

Hi Ivan,
Really sorry to hear about the Hurricane hitting your area. This has been a horrible year for those dreaded things. Glad to hear your family is fine.
As you stated, the good side is, NO LIGHT POLLUTION! grin

Very sorry to hear of your losses during the storms. I hope you'll quickly rebuild and put it all behind you. Your encouragement and enthusiasm has been beneficial to so many here and I hope we can return the favor.

Keep looking up,

Joe

Ivan Im so sorry to hear about your disaster. I hope things are not as bad as they look and you are able to rebuild soon. Thankfully you and your family are OK. I would like to extend this wish for all in the affected area that things are back to normal soon and this is the end of this season.

Jeez Ivan, sorry to hear this. But lets look at the bright side, you and your family are alive and well and you know what not to do when you rebuild the observatory.

Sorry to hear of your damage, glad to hear that you and your family are not hurt. Keep smiling like your picture shows, the damage is just lumber and nails.
Best Regards,
Harry

Good to know you and family survived OK.

A friend is fond of saying, "If it doesn't kill me, it'll make me stronger!"

Keep looking up (at those dark skies!) and here's hopes for a swift return to normalcy.
