Never thought I would get my CG5 Advanced System to work! I tried after Polar aligning in my narrow driveway to do the "quick align" with just entering all info and correct time and location, but with no success.. what I needed was the 3 star alignment proceedure (which I couldn't do with my limited view of the sky)... Well tonight I loaded everything up and drove over to a friend's farm.. nice and dark but more importantly 360ยบ of visibility.. I set-up, Polar aligned the tripod, entered correct info and entered "3 star align" First star it asked for was Sirius, low in the SW I watched the go to do it's slewing... got it in my 8X50 finder, but had to nudge it in a bit to center the star in my 20mm. cross hair ep. (my scope tonight is the 9.25" SCT.) hit "align" again and 2nd star appeared on the control paddle, Capella , High in the West... I hit enter, and the go to coffee grinder swung high and came real close to centering the 2nd star..I fined tuned it and went to the 3rd star. This time it selected Arcturus.. which is on the other side of the meridian... "Align Success" appeared! I tried my first Tour object, SATURN, thought that would be obvious enough.. Bingo.. right to it! The Auto Star prompting is easy to follow and all works well.. Going to have a good time at the OR. Star Party in Aug. Won't see Saturn sad to say.. by that time it will be a few degrees from the Sun... JM
