Has anyone had any experience with this Alt/Az mount? and Will it mount to the Losmandy GM-8 tripod legs?

I have read all the info available on DiscMount's website and two reviews, one for the DiscMount DM-6 and one for the DM-4. However, the DM-6 is the one that has my interest. My scopes have always been over 15 lbs. with accessories.

Any comments?

Steven,

I have the DM-4 and the stated 15 lb weight capacity is *very* conservative. That said, Tom Peters of DiscMounts uses the DM-6 with the GM-11 tripod. You might want to contact him about the GM-8.

Hi Steve,
I am using the DM-6 with three scopes: AP Traveler, 130mm and C9.25". My tripod is a modified Astrosky Eliminator (no longer sold). The mount is extremely stable, solid and well-made, and vibrations damp out faster than my EM-200. The only thing is the Az movement is stiff and you have to get used to it. Another great thing about the mount is that you can change eyepieces without the OTA shifting, which is great when you are doing high power observation of double stars and planets. Many times when I'm imaging in the mountains, I leave another scope set up on the DM-6 and folks are welcomed to use it- they seem to like it a lot.

Good luck! Ivan
