Remember these mounts from Richard Berry?

I recently acquired a 6" refractor and it may be a little too much for my Byers EQ Mount. So, I remember this mount from one of Berry's books. I had to buy another copy to get the compete plans but it went together fine and I just did first assembly and attached the OTA. Pretty smooth and very rigid if I do say so myself.

There's a guy, or was, that used to attend TMSP with a huge D&G 8-inch f/12 refractor on one of those exact mounts...But he had painted it yellow and green, as it was the theme for his John Deere telescope!

Just a few thoughts:

Walter,
I once had an AP 6" F-9 refractor and was killing myself trying to mount it.  Once I saw Berrys book, I realize that I should have done what you did by making the simple yet sturdy alt az refractor holding tripod.  If I had done that, I would have observed much more with that excellent OTA but I gave up and sold it,
Looks like you did a pretty good job with yours.
Clear skies,

Can you tell me which of Mr. Berry's books contain the mount design?

Perhaps even share a PDF of the design?

Michael, I believe it's "Build Your Own Telescope". There is a drawing of the mount, along with others, on the cover.

I also saw this guy's Green & Yellow "monster" and it was very impressive to a newbe !!!!

Nice mount for a 6 inch f8 "yard cannon" since it makes the OTA look small !!!
