Bausch & Lomb 4000

Can anyone tell if the old all black Criterion Bausch & Lomb 4000 can be removed from the fork drive and mounted on a tripod via a 1/4 X 20 screw. I have read that these were/are not very good optically, but I may have one coming this way for next to nothing.....

Sure they can, Gary, and they make pretty good spotting scopes that way. The B&L 4000 comes off the mount easily with two allen screws and has a tripod mount ready to go. Mine has great optics for its small size. Jay
