apo lenses from China

Does anyone have any information on the quality of the apo lenses sold by various people in China? The one I familiar with is the great eye who sells on ebay. I am sure there are others. The prices are relatively low and I was wondering if these were manufacturers rejects.

There was a discussion about him in March of '06.

John Biggs of GCS astro was one of the participants - I've also got some back channel emails.

The upshot is "you pays your money and you takes your chances". Some people were happy, some were not. At the time of that discussion, I noted his feedback was 96.7 and compared it to a well known radio dealer who is routinely excoriated in newsgroups for misrepresenting things. The radio guy's feedback was better at 97.4.

I have read posts where people who bought lenses from China got, a brick, a round piece of glass, like a bad blank, broken lenses, bad lenses and good lenses. So it seems to be a crap shoot really.
