Curved or Straight Spider Vanes

Which is best for planetary viewing? The straight vanes give diffraction spikes, but the curved spreads the diffraction around the object. Anybody have experience looking through telescopes w/ both types and can comment on the differences? I'm at a conundrum deciding which to put on the scope I'm building. I was leaning towards Protostar's but... *shrug*

Thanks!

Jason, this subject comes up every so often - here's a thread you should probably read through:

You'll see that I chimed in a couple times. The bottom line IMHO is that it's more an aesthetic issue - it has little or no bearing on how much detail you actually see.

What size scope? More importantly, what size secondary mirror?
