Old Meade Fork Electronics question

I am trying to decide what switch to put inline for this old 2080 mount. I can't figure out how many amps the motor uses. Its obviously just a stepper motor for the ra, no dec. This is pretty retro, i love it. Just would love to have a switch to control it better. (on / off). As well, for info, its just a computer power cable that goes from the base of the unit to the power outlet in a home.

Thanks,

Rest assured, practically any in-line switch you put in will suffice. I don't know of any telescope operating system, even if AC, that would draw enough amps to create a potential problem. Just pick one that meets the physical requirements of the installation.

A nice microswitch will work from radio shack. Their ratings are usually 1 amp 110VAC. The 110VAC rating insures no arc-over up to that voltage. They can be used for small DC motors also. The larger "brush type motors" have much heavier currents and the amperage is usually on the motor. Your worse case situation would be the contacts eventually pit if the switch is under rated for the application.
