Replace Meade ED refractor focuser

Has anyone replaced the Meade refarctor's pretty poor focuser with something better? Looking for ideas for my 152ED. Thanks

Hi Morgan --

I have no experience with the 152ED but replaced a poor focusser on my home built 6" refractor with an AstroPhysics 2.7" focusser. It cost something over $300.00 but it's rock solid and the smoothest focusser I've ever used. It took some shimming to get the fit right in a 5" ID tube. I've been very happy with the outcome. I'm not sure what you would have to do to mate it to your 152ED. AstroPhysics has dimensions of its focussers on its website.

Morgan- I replaced the focuser on my 6" AP with a Burgess focuser and HIGHLY recommend them. Go to--Burgessoptical.com

PS- if you go with a Burgess make sure you get the fine focus too. It's amazing. You'll wonder how you ever got along without it. Gerry
