Aurora Oct 10

Hi All,

Is was a beautiful aurora last night despite the bright moon. It started off at sundown fairly quiet, just an amorphous glow on the northern horizon. However, it soon brightened to a beautiful green arc, gradually getting higher. It then because dominated by red with many rays. Around 10.30 is quietened down a little, but the grow covered almost the entire sky, reaching close to the southern horizon. Not quite the equal of the May display, but still one of the best I have observed.

Below are a few of the images I took. These were taken with a modified Canon D60 using a variety of exposures ranging from 1 second to 5 seconds at 4000ASA.

This one was apparently visible all the way down to Florida- I saw a similar picture from Chiefland
