I just returned from Cupertino Ca and bought my Orion XT12i dob. The base assembly was a breeze, and the primary lens install easy enough, although I was intimidated at first.

I drove from my home in Sebastopol Ca to run from the fog and found good viewing in Cloverdale. M13 - beautiful. A mere smudge with my borrowed 4" reflector but stunning and clear with the 12".

I have the Orion 9X50 right angle finder scope - does anyone know how to focus it?

Congratulations! Jumping from 4" to 12" is an amazing step up in aperture. You'll be blown away by what you can detect/see now. Especially once you perfect collimating it.

As for the focus (I'm recalling from memory, as I don't have one anymore):

There is a knurled ring just behind the main objective. You turn the "dew shield" part of the finder to unscrew it a bit and then turn that knurled ring to focus. Once it is in focus, just re-tighten the dew shield part to lock it back into place.
