The Sky is Dead.

I appreciate all the great replies to my post earlier this week. I'm all pumped up now and ready to spend some quality time at the scope but, here in Michigan I haven't seen the sky for weeks, and when I did it was one night during the last full Moon! There is no break in the clouds scheduled for as far out as any forecast goes. (Probably get a night during the next full Moon.)

I have two major loves, fly fishing and astronomy, and both depend on the weather! I should have taken up bowling, then I could enjoy my hobby year around, reguardless of the weather. In a just a few years I plan to retire and then I will park my 5th wheel trailer on an Arizona mountaintop where I can see the sky once in awhile.

Tell me about it...I live in northcentral Wisconsin...we've had clear skies...but the cold! Geez, as I'm writing this at 3:15 in the afternoon (CST) it is 12 degrees below zero...not including the windchill.

I like the winter constellations...but not that much! It's been below zero every night for the past week and a half!!! I go out, look at the sky...I notice the stars aren't even twinkling much at all and think to myself..."This would be a perfect night for observing...but I can't feel my hands or my toes and my breath has frozen to my face...I'm going in!" And that's just after being outside for about 30 seconds!!!

What I wouldn't give for a home on a warm beach somewhere!

You know what the worst thing is? When you can look up at night and can just barely see stars through a haze of fog. That's what Vancouver was like mid last week. Some rare cloudless winter nights (we get about as many as you can count on your fingers), but I *still* couldn't observe!
