Golden State and Shingletown might not happen

Northern California star parties, scheduled for the first week of July are in jeopardy of not happening due to the many forest fires in the area. Make sure to contact the star party organizers prior to making the trip.

Hi Gary,

Fire crews are working very hard to contain the fires in both regions. A great deal can change in a week (for better or worse) and we'll know more in a few days. Your advice is correct, but it's too soon to reach any conclusions about what the conditions will be a week from now.

Attendees of both events should check on the respective web sites for current status.

Due to the fires burning in the Shingletown area and the use of the airport as a fire fighting base for helicopters, SSP2008 will be postponed until at least the end of August 2008. Stay tuned for more information.
