Killdeer and nest of eggs

I took these pictures yesterday with a Kadak DX4900. The Killdeer was dancing around like crazy in front of my car on an old gravel road. It finally limped (faking an injury)
off the road. I found the nest in the middle of the road just in front of my car.

So, how do you explain to a killdeer the facts of life, especially those spelled "R-O-A-D" and "C-A-R"?
