When I was in 10th grade my dad was station at RAF Bentwaters in England. I went to the American high school on RAF Woodbridge. In October 1978 I got to go on a school field trip. We spent 5 days touring Normandy. We got to see all the D-Day beaches, the cemetary, and various more inland battle sites like St. Lo. We also got see to the Bayou tapestry which was very interesting. At night we stayed in youth hostels. The whole trip cost my parents something like $50.
As today is D-day I was thinking of that trip. If you ever get a chance, Normandy is trip you won't forget.
