Any benefit between air vs ground shipping from a handling standpoint. I have a high end telescope on the way and need to decide on shipping. I do not care about the time transit or cost difference. I just want it to arrive without damage. Thanks

I once shipped an APO and initially FedEx refused to
accept it for ground service. They showed me some memo
from management that ground shipping was too rough, and
high dollar delicate stuff should only be accepted for air
transport. That seems to provides some insight.

In the end they did accept it for ground shipment. It arrived
with a large hole in the outer box, and half the foam peanuts
were gone. But the inner box was unharmed, and the scope was OK.

I've also seen scope boxes badly trashed during FedEx air
shipments, so its no guarantee. Again scopes were ok.
