I know I may be stating the obvious, but it is nice to know that people in Iran do normal things like set up telescopes, and appreciate the beauty of an evening sky. http://www.spaceweather.com

To listen to 'news' reports, one would almost think their total preoccupation is with destroying the West.

That is nice Darian, I think all astronomer's are on the same playing field with one thing on their mind's, and that is the beauty of the sky.

The citizen's of Iran for the most part like us and want their freedom's, maybe we should send telescope's to the government official's and then they will chill out and relax. You know, keep their mind's off of nuclear bomb's and suicide vest's. It might just work till one of them see's the ISS and start's thinking that they might be able to send a suicide astronaut up.

I'm with you in hoping that the Iranians are more interested in the stars and a normal prosperous life. But, before we hold hands and sing Kumbaya with them, check out this Amazon list of books about dictators and their hobbies:

I have several telescopes, but none are semi-APO, APO, or in anyway valuable.
