Where do these fit?

Aircraft photography using 500mm Russian Reflex lens on Sony A200 SLR. Taken on a rare day at DFW aiport when strong N.W. winds limited operations to the two available crosswind runways. This was a rare opportunity for local photographers. These images were all hand held at f8 and 1/2000, ISO400. This first Image is an MD-80. A transportation forum might be a good idea for those of us that like trains, planes, vehicles, and water craft.

What the heck is stuck to the nose gear on this plane? Mud flaps?!
