What a wonderful time, under the guise of assistance to people who perhaps maybe even want us there, methodically relocate the miltary effort which had been intended to rebuild an infrastructure, to Asia to assist those poor people. Excellent cover, lower security requirements, and saving American and Asian lives and improving a generation in that region. And great cover for the US to get out!

Actually Tsunami Aid seems to be a naval military indevor.
Nobody in the world is more competent in fast entry into devestated areas and creating positive logistic operations then the US marines. They the most self-sufficient units in the world.
Iraq in mainly army.
Once again, this is sending a message to the region on who still actually is the superpower in the region. This will probably cool the political inertia that has been going in China's direction. India is watching very closely as well.
Chinese aid that has actually materialized has beeen minimal.
