We can classify US Democrats of today as they would have been referred to back in the '40s and '50s, by actual Democrats in that day as full blown "Communists''Originally Posted by Mel MakiUS liberals are different.
These leftists today are nothing like the Democrats of Old.
These people hate the country as it was founded. They hate everything about it, and they would like to burn it all down and start again.

Back to down under, looks like Labor will have a majority in their own right in the house, but will need to support of the greens and/or independents in the senate.
A couple of other comments. richie, you were correct in that we got rid of the liberals because we were sick of how they were running things. However, you really did put your ignorance on show. In Australia, the liberals are the right-wingers, and under SoMo and Joyce, they went hard right. As a result, they lost much of their heartland and safest seats to independents. Also worth pointing out that labor also lost a seat to an independent. The link below is an excellent analysis of the election.

In a nutshell, the voters were angry with how the liberals were treating issues such as women and climate change, and sick of the BS coming from the government. It is shame that independents have no chance in the US.
One other point richie, you really should try to educate yourself more. You claim that what happens in Aussie does not matter to you. It should. Australia is a major trading partner with the US and extremely important to the US interests in the Pacific and in countering China. Have you not heard of AUKUS or "The Quad"?

Scientifically proven fact:- No woman has ever murdered her husband while he is washing the dishes.

I always enjoy your input and perspective.
My wife and I have been streaming an Australian (ABC) comedy/drama "Rake." Set in Sydney. If first aired about 10 years ago. We are in the last season and have loved it. It might not be your cup of tea, it is very irreverent, adult, and sometimes shocking. Definitely R rated by US standards, but brilliantly acted. It is absolutely hilarious, at least to my twisted mind. They just went through an election in the last episode of season 4 and the first of season 5. It seems the fictional results are not unlike the real results. Have you seen it?

Maurice, first of all why do you refer to me as Richie?
Are you a just a childish, juvenile little boy whose first instinct is to try to insult someone like a 4 year old would, or do you have issues with your own self?
Is that it?
Next, I've told you before, I have no idea about your gov't, nor do I care ONE WIT what you Aussies want to do down there.
So Big F'in deal? I told you that I wasn't familiar with your form of gov't before and so what? I got it wrong.
Does that mean something in the grand scheme of things? I'm not as familiar with the Brits parliamentary system either and all of their intracacies.
So what?
Run a police state like China for all I care. It affects not one iota of our "business relationship".
How you run the control of your citizenry doesn't matter to me in the least, nor does it matter to my nation's economic relationship with you, and that IS what matters.
Furthermore, I spoke of the people who are in charge now, assuming that they are liberals. Apparently they are but they operate different from our liberals here, but in any event they were voted out weren't they?
Isn't that what matters?
And according to you, it was in the biggest landslide in your nation's history. Was that because of their totalitarian, iron fisted big gov't nature and people were tired of it? Perhaps it wasn't and your people will vote in even more of an iron fisted totalitarian gov't, one that will keep people locked in their homes when the have a handful of their neighbors get the flu.
That's your business. It doesn't affect me in the least. IF your citizens are cemented into their homes and are shot on sight if they pass the sidewalk, I really couldn't care less. You guys vote in those idiots then you deserve the gov't you've got there.
Anything else Maurice that you care to discuss, or are 4 year old childish taunts about my name the best you can muster?
