Whether you love him or hate him you have to admit he sure gave one powerful speech. Very impressive. Too bad he's not running for president, I'd vote for him.

Sure, it's another scene in a very slick and expensive production, one that alternates between a disney and hardline tone; yes, they are sending exactly the message they want to deliver. But we don't need their convention to make any serius decisions because we already have a nearly 4 year record to look at. It's just a big lavish party for the converted, just as the DNC was. The GOP is hoping for a big bump, but I'll be surprised if they get any more than Kerry did. Of course it's succeeding in getting the choir pumped up, but that has little relevance to the outcome of this election.

Ron…
I agree that Zell gave a powerful speach. Actually, it more than a speach, it was an indictment.
What I don't understand is the low opinion of the speech by so many others in this thread. Whether you agree or disagree with what he said, it was perhaps the best speach--from a technical standpoint--by ANYONE this political season: it was well-written, well-delivered, and on many points irrefutable. It wasn't quite Churchill, but for a good-ol-boy, it was close enough.
