My thoughts today are with the families of all the victims at the three sites, the families of the courageous first responders who lost their lives at the WTC, and with the families of the workers who became sick after the WTC clean-up.
I remember in the ensuing days how quite everything seemed outside with all commercial air traffic halted across the country -- the silence broken every now and then by a lone F-16 screaming across the sky. It was surreal.
With the grace of God, I pray that our nation never suffers through a tragedy like this again.

We discussed whether it was safe to carry the kids out with us or if we should choose one of us to go get gas in the car just in case other attacks happened, it makes chills go up my spine just thinking about it.
We live directly in an outbound flight path from ATL and the silence was deafening, truly surreal.

I worked at the Pentagon cleaning up the aftermath. I arrived 2 days after the attack, from Connecticut, stopping in New York to survey the remains of the towers.
Needless to say, I will NOT forget, asbestos poisoning sticks with you for a long time.

I really think having that photo on the website is in bad taste. My opinion.
I am angry about what happened but I wouldn't want my relative or friend's photo paraded.
I don't believe in martyrs.
If I lived in one of those countries in the Middle East I could understand why you would want to be a martyr, maybe I could be lucky and come back as an American.
Put a photo of the twin towers, we don't need sensationalism like on the news programs.

Agreed. i have always considered this photo to be a kind of Pornography of Violence. Anyone who lived through that day and witnessed those events will always have those images etched in their mind. To this very day i cannot bear to look at any of them. This is one BIG reason i'm glad i don't watch TV; i don't need anyone or anything to help me recall that horror.
