Purpose of this Forum

This forum is quite confusing. I thought that this is a moderated forum and that the purpose is to discuss religion in a positive constructive context. It seems that many members of this group are simply Trolls whose purpose is to antagonize other members of the group. Why do the moderators allow this situation to continue? I would recommend the creation of an "Atheist" forum so that all of the Athiests can move to that forum and continue to dis religion. This forum could then be maintained for constructive discussions regarding religion.

Regards,

You caught the forum on a good day. You should have seen it when it was nasty. wink

Jim:

That's the way all "good" intentions start. Cut off what you don't want to hear goes first. Secondly allow only what you approve of. Then lastly only post what is prescribed by the "code".

That sequence has been the downfall of great churches, governments and empires.

If you only want to hear what you like then the best thing is to go into a soundproof room and talk to yourself!

There is one thing I would like to suggest and I am not addressing any one person in particular:

We are what we speak.

When you address someone or comment on their posts, think about the words you use, words like ‘rant’, ‘seige’, ‘attack’, ‘snipe’, ‘hostile’, and ‘antagonist’.

When we use negative words, we create a negative mindset for ourselves even though we think we are applying them to other people. If we use words of war, we shouldn’t be surprised to find ourselves at war.

Eric, no, we have not just seen the darkest hours of the forum, though if you feel you have been on the ‘hot seat’ it may seem that way. These ‘dark hours’ happen with remarkable regularity, only the names change from time to time.

I also do not direct this to anyone in particular but, very early in my participation I complained about the tone here. I was given a piece of advice by someone still here (does he remember the conversation, I wonder?): If you can’t take the heat, stay out of the forum.

As some of you have probably noted, sometimes I’m gone for a while. wink

ccw

Sweet the coming on
Of grateful evening mild; then silent night
With this her solemn bird and this fair moon,
And these the gems of heaven, her starry train.

If I remember the history of this Forum correctly, the purpose of this Forum is to get the religious discussion away from the Cosmology Forum so they could discuss scientific theories of origins there without having to worry about the religious arguments.
