Hi, I use CS2 and have been thinking about upgrading to CS5 Extended, but I am not sure whether the new version and its tools are really that good for Astrophotography, or at least are they that better. The cost is a bit, so I would like to hear from other about their experiences.

Great question Floyd. I use CS2 too, and I wonder now and then whether the upgrade would be justified. Hopefully we'll get some 1st hand input from someone.

Hi Floyd and Jim,
As I'm sure you've seen from the Adobe site, the changes from CS2 to CS5 aren't dramatic for astrophotographers.
The smart filters are enhanced, but you can do the same stuff in CS2 as in CS5, it just takes a few more mouse clicks.
If your computer can take advantage of the 64 bit capability, CS5 is supposed to work faster.
If you're into making movies, CS5 Extended is the horse that you want to ride. The 3D modeling capabilities are a hoot. I don't have experience with other movie programs, but it's easy to learn the basics with CS5.
I would think that most astrophotographers wouldn't see much benefit in upgrading unless they needed the movie capabilities.

CS5 is true 64-bit now. Prob not that important...for now 8) Does the FITS plug-in work with CS5?
