Autoguiding basics

I have an ED80 on a CG-5. There is an autoguiding port on the mount. How is a camera connected, since it isn't a USB port (RJ-45)? And how can I operate the autoguiding within Maxim DL? I need an autoguiding solution because the mount will not track well for longer than a minute (without drift alignment).

Thanks for any thoughts.

Often the autoguiding port is a phone jack. The cable is a phone cable with phone jacks at each end. The cable has been wired for autoguiding specifically and isn't a standard phone cable though.

My Sbig camera has an RS 232 plug that fits into the camera (usually there is an adapter plug that converts the phone plug to an RS232 plug). This then plugs into my mount.

A Celestron mount almost for sure has one of these phone jacks for the autoguiding port. It should be labelled, my Nexstar 11 was.
