Galaxy - IC 342

Here is an image of IC 342. It is an object mostly obscured by the dust of our own galaxy. I have attached a mid sized image, but a full size image can be accessed at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/IC342.htm

Scope was C8 at f/5.1, camera was an Artemis285.

I had to expose fairly long (for me). And the data was still a bit noisy - I had to do a fair amount of noise reduction.

Very nice, Jim! I've heard of this galaxy, and its dimness. Good job at teasing out the details!

Fantastic Jim. Your images just get better and better.

Nice, Jim. I would go with a little less noise reduction--you are losing a lot of detail as a result here. I'd rather see some noise and retained detail than a super-smooth image.

Thanks guys for the comments.

Jeff, Yeah, I know what you mean about the noise reduction. Even when you tell yourself you don't want to overdo it, it is amazing how you sometimes end up doing too much anyway.

Noise reduction or not... I think it is a lovely image Jim! Star colors look great.
