Hello all. smile

Not quite sure where to put this as it's not really deep sky or anything.

Coming back from the lake early one Sunday morning (2:00 am) in early July, I noticed some interesting cloud formations in the north. Being at 53d 30’ latitude (Edmonton), although the sun does set, there is a dim twilight in the north throughout the night so it never really gets completely dark in the summer. Not too great for observing deep sky stuff, but does allow for some pretty cool phenomenon. These appear to be some fairly high-altitude clouds reflecting some of the sunlight from far over the horizon. I believe the term for this would be “noctilucent clouds”. It was an eerie kind of light, sort of like aurora, but more like a huge spiderweb in the sky.

Sorry it's not really "Deep Sky".

Clear skies smile

Here's another wider panorama.

The camera shook a bit when I took this so there are a few light trails.

Cheers. smile

Thats is a neat shot Derrick. I think the Earth is the most spectacular place in the universe. Too bad we're destroying it.
